A price that never moves
Why I am building Swarza, a host for JavaScript apps and AI agents with a flat monthly price, and what the private beta covers.
Swarza is a host for full-stack JavaScript applications, sold the way hosting used to be sold: a fixed monthly price with fixed allowances. This post says why I am building it and what you can do with it in the private beta.
The bill should not surprise you
Traditional hosts charge a flat price, so you know the bill before the month starts. Cloud providers charge for every gigabyte and every request, and most platforms built on them pass that on. Some bill usage past what the plan includes. Some pause your site when its credits run out. Some have no cap at all. Every few months another developer posts a bill they did not expect.
I don’t think a small team should have to watch a usage graph to stay safe. So Swarza has one rule:
The price is the price. Using up an allowance slows your application down. It never sends an invoice.
When an Organization uses up an allowance, its Applications stay online and the edge turns some requests away until the next month or until you buy an Add-on Pack. You get an email at 80% and at 100%. Only you change the bill, by changing Plan.
What it runs
An Application is a folder of files and, if it needs one, an entry: a fetch handler, a Node.js request listener, or a Next.js app built with Vercel’s adapter. You deploy it from your machine or from CI with one command:
swarza deploy --prod
Every deploy gets its own address. Promote moves production to it, and a rollback is a Promote of an earlier deploy. Visitors see one deploy or the next, never a mix of both.
Next to the code, the same Plan includes:
- Databases, which you use with Turso’s driver;
- Buckets, which any S3 client can read and write;
- Scheduled Jobs, listed in
swarza.json; - Logs of requests and of what your code prints, kept for 7 days;
- Custom Domains, with certificates issued for you.
Swarza uses standard tools on purpose. If you already know the S3 API or a fetch handler, there is nothing new to learn.
Where it runs
Applications, Databases and Buckets run in Frankfurt, and prices are in euros. Plans start at €5 a month.
The private beta
I am opening Swarza to a small group first, so I can watch it under real traffic and fix what I find before anyone depends on it. If you build JavaScript apps or AI agents and want a flat bill, join the private beta. You will get an email when a place opens.
I will write here about what I build and what I learn running it: numbers from production, the mistakes, and the decisions behind them.
